Cupcakes and Chess

Chess never looked quite so delicious, eh? So I've been playing chess weekly with my friend Rick and for the first time last week, I won. But I kinda felt oober bad! Mostly because when I lose to someone whom I should have beaten, I feel perty awful. So I decided to convert my guilt into baking.

No worries though. I'll never feel bad about winning again. All such feelings fled as Rick maliciously took a huge bite of my King after a smashingly drawn out check mate.

Eye-Opening and Mouth-Closing

Ah, Ah, Ah, AH, AH, AH, AHH, AHHH, AHHHHHHHHH.

Yes, that is exactly what is going through my head right now, and probably every time I think of ever eating fast food again. EVER. I knew this day would come. I've avoided it the best I can. But hulu got the best of me.

I watched Super Size me. I didn't want to know the truth. I thought I'd be happy just vaguely knowing that for some reason by eating McDonalds for a month a guy was swiftly led down the path of deteriorating health. I had heard he almost died, that he ate McDonald's everyday, and he started to have cravings for McDonalds. What I didn't know until I watched this was that he didn't almost die (though it was still digusting what happened), he ate McDonald's for EVERY meal (I can barely get through the lethargy that comes after eating one of their meals :[ ), and that he had a girlfriend who was vegan (this is a novelty for me because I admire vegans but also think them ridiculous).

So what am I going to do about this? Well, first off I'm going to be sick for about a week; that's what originally detered me from watching this thing was that I knew I would be sick. Now I have this feeling that I need to be more self-conscious about what I eat than what I usually do. But I know I'm still going to eat fast food? So here comes the paradox. Perhaps I just need to wait for the shell shock of watching SuperSize me to wear off.

It comes down to this then. I'll probably become a more frequent user of this.

So this is the most nature-ish thing I have on my camera currently, I made a face with the sun and a cloud. I think it's probably the coolest thing I've ever seen :D whoot for mustaches!


Ok, so I suppose this is nature-ish too. It's Provo all lit up for 4th of July! You can't really see the fireworks...but they are there, I promise!So I went to a parade and they had a tank. After said parade I was riding my bike to a friends house and the tank pulled up beside to me on it's way to wherever it's kept and I thought to myself "Sure, you may go faster than me, but I bet neither of us can blow anything up!" At least...I hope it was an unarmed tank. Ngh!
I took a hike, and with any traditional hike you have to get yourself a stick and...look like a hick?
So on my 'vacation' I went to Disneyland and I have to say, there are many an opportunity for optical illusions there! :D
Dakota graduated! Gush!
He Graduated again! (from seminary) And this picture was quite the adventure. My bro doesn't like hugs, so my sister tried to tackle him...he's twice our size! it's hard! But when I my dad put his hand in the mix, we got the picture! :D Or should I say pick? No...it doesn't rhyme no matter how much I want it to...

Adapting

Well, I got an e-mail about my last blog informing me that the drink that got thrown at me at the parade (I felt very special <-serious) was very healthy for you. I think I'll still stand by my opinion, but I've never been one to drink health drinks. So if you want to live longer than me...

Anyways, I am going to express my opinion again. I read this article today in the school newspaper. Summary :

"The new novel, by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith, transforms this classic tale of a band of sisters searching for husbands to a band of sisters searching for husbands while battling zombies with their amazing ninja skills."

Really? Zombies and 19th century ninja's? I don't think they KNEW about ninja's in Britain in Jane Austen's time!? Albeit it would probably keep up the daily gossip for at least three days...but I think the best thing said about this book is what is says about the plot line.

“People taking these strolls, riding their carriages to and fro. There are so many opportunities there — for zombie attacks.”

Yes friends, when I first read Pride and Prejudice...that is EXACTLY what I thought of. Le Sigh.

Giving Services

Well, first off, yay for American Independence! :D Last night I celebrated by watching me some fireworks. Fireworks that I looked down upon! That's right friends, I look down on fireworks. No, I just took a hike and watched it from 1000 ft above of where they were being blasted from. Anyways, having seen a very patriotic parade that morning, it lead me to want to share with you one of the most American things I can think of. That's right, giving away advertisements on a National Holiday when no one cares.

First off, I was given a flyer for cell phone services. To be quite honest, any plan uou give me would have to go pretty far to beat the one I'm currently on. It's called the My-Daddy-Loves-Me plan and it's pretty hard to beat...ever.

Secondly I was given coupons for Del Taco. I've been to Del Taco and I know that the food on the advertisement will never be close to what it is in real life. So I have no intention of using those coupons. But if anyone is interested, I'm sure you can find some here.

This last one comes with a warning. I got a packet of juice thrown at me from off of a parade float. It contained a drink so ridiculous I just had to make fun of it. It's called Koopuwa by Maakoa. To me, the best description I can give is a V8 fruit juice drink gone horribly awry (i.e. very nasty). I just hope it's 'unique' blend of acai berries doesn't give me cancer. It was also nothing compared to something else I got thrown at me yesterday...a laffy taffy...and of course...



Katie L. from Tyler TX asks "What time was it when the elephant sat on a chair?" Can you guess? Well..."Time to get a new chair." hehe. Not only is it so bluntly literal it's funny, it's also not expected! Well...maybe from a Laffy Taffy joke you can expect it...who knows?

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

So I'm off of my vacation now and I'm back to work and school! I happen to have gotten a raise this past month and now I'm taking part of it in full swing. I have to say my favorite part is walking to work. I'm not saying this to be sick and twisted since I wake up at the crack of dawn, but because I like the scenery! So, tomorrow I'm going to take some pictures and put them up for all to see! Albeit I don't know if I can capture it, but I'll try!

Being back in school finds me back in the swing of learning. Like learning about the 12th book of the Robert Jordan series! Tangent: Oh man, if you're looking for an amazing read, read The Wheel of Time series. It's worth all the work you have to put into it. I say work because each book is about 1000 pages of glorious literature long. If you want a scale of how long that takes to read, it's about a 20-26 hour read for me personally, and I average about 30 pages an hour with this book. Anyways, I've learned what the cover looks like (see above), that the release party is going to be held at BYU, and that Brandon Sanderson is 55% done with the book :D. See, sadly Robert Jordan died...and therefore his wife was put in charge of finishing the series. One thing lead to another and she chose Sanderson to finish the series.

So I'm geeking out about the book, but I won't be reading it. Honestly, maybe I should make a hit-list titled "Books that are amazing but I refuse to read them though I desperately want to." On it would be ALL of Robert Jordan's works and Brandon Sanderson's stuff. *sigh* Why you might ask? Well, I suppose it's cause I chose not to and therefor I am not.

Speaking of being obstinate, it was Lisa's birthday yesterday! She's my freshman friend who has now come to join me in the college life. Yesterday we celebrated her birthday and boy howdy was it fun! We wandered around and I had to force her to let me buy her ice cream, bwahaha! But it was fun and I just wanted to get that shout out, out there whilst I could! Happy Birthday Lisa! *throws confetti*

National Shopping Day

What holiday is this cake celebrating? National shopping day? We bought it yesterday for National Doughnut Day, but I didn't see the connection to be quite honest. Come on! A giant purse? Maybe it could be used as a birthday cake...but really? le sigh
